Cahir castle stands on an island in the River Suir. The rest of this island is known locally as the 'Inch Field'. This panorama covers about 140 degrees and shows that this is really quite a large castle. The long wall is actually straight but is curved in the photo because the camera has been swung over such a wide angle to take the ten or more shots needed to piece this together. There is a note on this curving phenomena that can be accessed from the
'panoramic photo gallery' index page.
