The Rock of Cashel at Sunrise
One of the most visited and most photographed sites in Ireland the Rock of Cashel appears on the front cover of more guidebooks than any other symbol of Ireland. This is where St. Patrick converted King Aengus in the 5th century and where Brian Boru was crowned as the first king of all Ireland in the 11th century. Prior to that it was the seat of the kings of Munster. The site was given to the church in the 12th century.
The photograph was taken from a small hill to the east of the Rock. This is a well used vantage point because it avoids having to look up to the complex and prevents the usual 'falling over backwards' look
