Athassel Bridge in a Storm
Athassel Abbey was built alongside the River Suir. A channel was dug from the river, around the abbey, and back to the river to form an island. This bridge crosses the channel and leads to the gatehouse in the perimeter wall. The channel has silted up and contains many wild irises but the bridge is intact. This stormy image lends itself well to a dark, grainy and sepia rendition.
